Landmark Law Cases and American Society

Founding editors: Peter Charles Hoffer, N. E. H. Hull, and Williamjames Hull Hoffer

The Landmark Law Cases and American Society series has received the Scribes Award given by the American Society of Writers on Legal Subjects. Designed for students and general readers, the Landmark Law Cases and American Society series is composed of compact, authoritative volumes by leading scholars in history political science, and law. The focus of the series is how law and American society inform each other. One of the goals of the series is to demystify law as doctrine and to present legal matters as stories. Each volume includes a chronology outlining the key points in the case. Series volumes have no footnotes, but each has a bibliographical essay on related materials. "In this series lumanaries in legal and constitutional history explore the relations between society and law in cases involving some of America's most profound conflicts. A valuable addition to the classroom repertoire in history, political science, and law school classes."—William M. Wiecek For more information about the series, please contact: David Congdon, Acquisitions Editor: dcongdon@ku.edu.
