Stanton Garner

Stanton Garner is a retired professor of English in the University of Texas system. He is secretary of the Melville Society, editor of The Captain’s Best Mate: The Journal of Mary Chipman Lawrence on the Whaler "Addison," 1856–1860 and author of the introduction to a 1988 edition of Melville’s White-Jacket.
