A new film based on the book Sod and Stubble will be shown in a sneak peek premiere at the Center Theater in Smith Center, Kansas.

Sod and Stubble tells the story of the Ise family based on the book by John Ise with Von Rothenberger. The Ise Family pioneered in north central Kansas in the late 19th century, and the book and film tell the story of the challenges of pioneering on the plains and raising a family in the west.
The film was written and directed by Ken Spurgeon and stars Bailey Chase (Longmire), Dodie Brown (American Horror Story), Barry Corbin (Lonesome Dove, Northern Exposure), Mary McDonough (The Waltons), Darby Hinton (Daniel Boone), Buck Taylor (Gunsmoke, Yellowstone), Rudy Ramos (Yellowstone), R. W. Hampton, Wyatt McCrea, Gabe Pranter, Nikki Tomlinson, Delno Ebie and Mark Mannette.
The movie was filmed near Downs, KS, Wichita and El Dorado, KS.
