American Political Science Association Annual Meeting
Los Angeles, August 31-September 2
In early July, thousands of hotel workers in Los Angeles went on strike to demand higher wages and better benefits. UNITE HERE Local 11, which represents these workers, has requested that APSA move the 2023 annual meeting online, relocate to a different city, or cancel the conference.
The University Press of Kansas, after careful consideration, has decided to honor the union’s request by withdrawing the Press’s physical presence, including both booth and staff, from the conference in solidarity with striking workers. The Press respects its relationship with APSA and will continue to support authors, readers, students, and other members of the political science community by maintaining a virtual booth on its website and offering conference discounts on related titles.
David Congdon, the acquiring editor in politics and law, remains available to meet virtually with prospective authors. He can be contacted here: dcongdon@ku.edu
